Jodi spoke to the jury today. She told the jury that every time, including the most recent time, that she has publicly said that she chose death over a life sentence, she meant it. So in essence she’s saying that nothing has changed. Then she goes on to say that though she meant what she said and was sincere in preferring the death penalty, when she said it, she lacked “perspective.”
If you’ve been closely covering the trial, you know that 20 minutes after Jodi Arias was found guilty of first-degree murder she gave a 45 minute interview to the local Fox TV station. In the interview she clearly stated that if given her choice she would prefer the death sentence. She went on to say that she felt that death was the ultimate freedom and she would rather have her freedom sooner than later.
This video was on “48 Hours” recently and it focuses on Jodi’s lies. Some of the clips have not been previously shown. Jodi Arias might be one of the greatest liars we have on film. Ever.
The second video is of a producer who discusses what it was like to interview Jodi Arias. It also shows her putting on her makeup before those infamous “48 Hours” videos that were played in court.
I have had many people write in and ask me the meaning of Jodi’s recent psychological evaluations. In essence they asked “if Jodi is found to be mentally ill, will she no longer have to go to prison and or avoid being executed?’
Many of you are familiar with Chris and Sky Hughes. They both testified in the Jodi Arias trial. An email of theirs was used by the defense team to suggest that Chris and Sky thought that Travis was abusive to women. They had the opportunity to share with the jury some of what they really felt and knew about Jodi Arias.

She also went on to say that longevity runs in her family and since she isn’t a smoker she would expect to have a very long life. On March 20, 2009, Jodi wrote a 3 1/2 page letter to Ryan Burns. If you recall Ryan testified for the prosecution. He spent time with Jodi the day after she killed Travis. I am writing this article in response to the many talking heads on TV, who are attempting to answer the question “why did Travis stay with Jodi?” and the question “what hold did Jodi have over Travis?”
Dr. Hayes was by far the strongest witness in the entirety of the Jodi Arias trial. She was unyielding, unmovable, intelligent and charming. If I had to describe her in one word it would be “disarming.”
Dr. Geffner was a likable but ineffective witness for the defense. He spilled his water twice while on the witness stand, and apologized for burping out loud. He also was a bit disingenuous, which is another way of saying he engaged in deception. I’ll go into that deception later in this article.
