This is a powerful video.
A Columbus, Ohio man posted an online video confessing to crashing into another man’s vehicle after a night of drinking.
“My name is Matthew Cordle, and on June 22nd, 2013, I hit and killed Vincent Canzani. This video will act as my confession.”
The video begins with a blurred face but later Mattew Cordle speaks directly into the camera, face fully shown. He explains what happened on the night of the incident and why he had been drinking.
“When I get charged I’ll plead guilty and take full responsibility for everything I’ve done to Vincent and his family,” Cordle says.
He understands that he is giving prosecutors everything they need to charge him to the fullest extent of the law. He ends the video by begging people not to drink and drive.
“I can’t bring Mr. Canzani back, and I can’t erase what I’ve done, but you can still be saved. Your victims can still be saved. So, please,” Cordle says before a message appears on the darkened screen: “make the promise to never drink and drive.”
