This jury has a completely different picture of Jodi Arias than the last jury.
The first jury saw Jodi Arias in action for 18 days detailing every sex act she performed since she was a teenager, lying about the gas cans, the skateboarders messing with her license plates, Travis owning a gun which she accidentally shot him with and the fog that caused her to forget stabbing him 29 times and slitting his throat and nearly decapitating him.
They also saw the snide sarcastic side of her that this jury only saw through her cousin Amy’s eyes if they listened to D., DeMarte as she took on Juan Martinez during his cross examination of her and they heard her admit during cross examination that she stabbed Alexander 29 times, slit his throat nearly decapitating him and shot him in the head.
This jury only saw a meek woman who barely spoke in a whisper speak about how remorseful she was about what she had done and wished she could take it all back, how she only lied about killing Alexander because she was in denial and how abused she was by her parents and cheating abusive boyfriends.
All they’ve heard from defense experts is that Travis Alexander was a jealous, possessive, boyfriend who abused her mentally, physically and verbally, cheated on her by having sex with 12 different women in one month and desired little boys and girls and looked at child porn on his computer and that Arias was a pacifist who just wanted to be loved.
However, because neither Arias nor her witnesses have talked about the murder, the jury doesn’t know she claims she killed him in self defense which may be a good thing.
In their closing statements, Nurmi and Wilmott will try to imply that because Arias is mentally ill and Alexander drew her back into the relationship by insisting she come visit him, then used her for sex, she just snapped and killed him.
However, Martinez will most likely use the same argument as he did in his last closing statement that the photographs of the last 60 seconds of Alexander’s life and forensic evidence shows the stab wounds were not the result of a frenzy heat of passion attack but specifically directed to kill as Arias stabbed him in the shower, he tried to take the knife away, get away and she chased him down continuing to stab him in the back, head, neck and then slit his throat nearly decapitating him and he bled out, she dragged him back to the sink, shot him in the head when he was already dead and then dragged him to the shower to wash off any evidence on his body.
When Martinez brings the jurors back to why they are there in the first place, they will see the autopsy pictures and relive the pain, fear and anguish Alexander felt as he tried to escape a relentless killer who ambushed him in his own shower as he sat on the floor naked and helpless and chased him down as he tried to escape and how he screamed in pain every time she thrust the knife into his naked flesh.
Then they will remember Samantha’s and Stephen’s pain and grief.
And they will forget all about Alexander's text messages to women, porn on his computer and the perceived victimization of a woman who has Borderline Personality Disorder but is sane enough to plan, execute a coverup a horrific murder of a man who rejected her.
When they go into deliberations the autopsy pictures will be fresh in their minds and they will think only of the pain he suffered and hopefully vote for death.
