Jodi had no criminal record - Neither did Ted Bundy who finally at the age of 27 was arrested for the murders of several women. As a matter of fact, by the time he was caught, at least 3 people he worked with, included crime author and personal friend, Ann Rule, had recognized the car and artist rendering, and turned him in. The police investigated but found it hard to believe a clean-cut law student, with NO ADULT CRIMINAL record could be guilty of the heinous rapes and murders, and therefore stopped pursuing those leads, only for Ted to kill again.
- Jodi had no reason to kill Travis- Neither did Ted Bundy. He didn't even know the women he kidnapped, raped and killed. Many of the dead bodies he had sexual contact with in the days after their deaths.
Prior to Ted being arrested, he had several girlfriends who he never killed. He had a mother who he carried a lot of resentment towards after discovering as an adult that she was not the sister he had been told, and his grandparents weren't his birth parents--he didn't kill any of them either.
Most people who met Ted thought he was charming and handsome and incapable of such depravity. He used his charms and good looks to trap his victims.
In the days leading up to his death sentence, he admitted to many other killing, at least 30, and there was thought he had killed his first victim at age 14. Up until those few days before he was put to death, he had maintained his innocence.
Ted had several escape attempts, one which culminated in the attack of 4 co-eds in a span of 15 minutes, with 30 people within earshot who reported hearing nothing, (one of the women died), he then went down the road and attacked another woman and a few later killed a 12-year old girl.
Forgot to add, Bundy also acted as his own legal counsel, and it appeared he created enough doubt and threw out enough evidence, that he would be acquitted. His family and friends begged him to leave well enough alone, but his escape attempts were the lynch pin. Had he not tried to escape, he would have likely been acquitted and released. Similarly, Jodi Arias doesn't listen to people who have tried to help her beat the Murder 1 rap--had she just shut up on the stand and not dragged Travis through the mud, she might have got off with some form of manslaughter.Â
So, just because Jodi didn't have a criminal record or have a reason to kill Travis, doesn't mean that she didn't kill him in cold blood. Those may be facts, but they don't support a self-defense defense or a pre-meditated murder defense.
