My bottom line is this. Jodi never, never 'loved' Travis. I loved my husband and it didn't matter to me if we'd had to live in a cave, as long as he was with me. Of course, he never would have allowed us to live in a cave. But Jodi only saw him as a 'step' to a better standard of living. If she could become 'Mrs. Travis', she would have gotten to travel with him, have a nice income, the prestige of all the 'friends' he had, plenty of socialization as his wife, a 5 bedroom house, she would have been a 'landlady' to all the young guys renting rooms there, a nice car...that was all she wanted him for. No more and no less. That's why she had no reservations about ambushing and butchering him.
If she could not have all that, then no other woman was going to have it with him.
