What struck me the most was how she spoke in a professional tone as if she was a businesswoman giving a speech after dinner. It is bad enough that she may see butchering Travis Alexander as "a mistake" but I think the real mistake she is referring to is meeting Travis Alexander because she blame his murder on him. If she had never met him, he could never cheat on her, reject her and move on to marry someone else and force her to drive 1,000 miles with a knife and gun to make him suffer, regret he ever crossed her and dispatch him to hell. Her saying, "This happened because of our sexual transgressions. I wonder what Travis is going through now" after she murdered him indicates to me that she believed he was burning in hell because he had sex with her and died before he had a chance to repent.
It was all a pity party for all the things she is going to miss out on.
What about what Travis Alexander and the world are missing out on for her slaughtering him?
I was especially disgusted that she found it necessary to say that she never wanted all these horrible things to come out about Travis Alexander and she never wanted to go to trial. Again deflecting the blame on the state and the Alexander family for not taking her plea and letting her walk in eight years or less.
Here's also some of the inappropriate comments she made.
"Before that day, I would not even harm a spider."
"For that I am going to be sorry for the rest of my life."
"My family has suffered a great loss."
"Stephen doesn't want to see his murderer. If I get life, he won't have to."
"I can't in good consciousness ask you to sentence me to death."
"I want everyone's healing to begin and everyone's pain to stop."
Your description of her like she was giving an after dinner professional speech is so right on. That was shocking to me. And also for me, her suggestions that she didn't want to tell the "bad" things about Travis, that she wanted to "protect" him is simply and plainly evil. She is bad to the bone. I am so grateful the jury found her guilty. People like her are scary and to be avoided at all costs. She wanted to take over his life and I am thinking he thought he was out of danger when she moved back to Yreka. I find it so hard to imagine that her expert witnesses had the audacity to make him the aggressor and that she just went along with his desires. For shame on them. They did it for money. Surely they aren't that stupid. Of course they aren't that stupid. I hope they have a hard time sleeping peacefully because they don't care how their lies no doubt have affected the Alexander family. I shouldn't have said that. It is wrong. And I am sure they are sleeping peacefully and soundly. But clearly that they could review the evidence and come up with the opposite of the facts is disturbing to me as well as giving her books to study to learn how to act like a domestic violence survivor WITH THEIR HELP. I hope I never get interested in one of these things again, yet I know myself and I know I will probably get interested in another one. How sick am I.

I want to thank everyone for helping me to see that I had indeed confused the original opening statements and was thinking we had seen them this time. I know now that I had not seen them for this 'retrial'.
I can only hope the jury is not confused as I am. I see that as a deliberate defense tactic, to confuse people especially the jury! In all this retrial performance, I still see no credible mitigating factors. One thing, to me, that is interesting, is that it has been the same prosecutor for all these years. Juan Martinez has an incredible memory. He is stellar and strong in understanding what evidence to present and when to focus on it. The jurors will have at least 1,000 pieces of evidence with them in the jury room. I can only pray they will be able to focus on the evidence that pertains to the truth and not to the many things presented by the defense that were only introduced to 'confuse.'
Now, I'm wondering about Nurmi's decision to bring back Fonseca and Geffner. They were both so adamant that Arias did not have BPD, but instead, she had PTSD. They also seemed convinced that it is never the women who are abusers. It seemed to me, they only focused on things to make it sound like Travis was a sex crazed maniac who only kept Arias in the 'dark' for his own toy.
Can they possibly now combine their 'opinions' with the 'diagnosis' of BPD, since it seems that now Nurmi is trying to make this jury believe she was actually 'mentally ill' the whole time?
And I am also wondering just what the prosecutor has filed, in secret, from the Devault case that could possibly pertain to the sentencing of Jodi Arias. I know she and Arias were at one time 'cell mates'. I remember that at one time, Jodi got in trouble at the jail, before her conviction, for a fight and claimed she had to defend herself. Could that have been Devault, in their shared cell? I wonder if Devault has turned over something she kept that could be used as evidence. I'd be interested in finding out about her Prosecutor's filing, and if it will help the prosecution or the defense. (Although I can't imagine a PROSECUTOR, who works with Juan, filing any evidence that would aid the defense team.)

I couldn't play the link that you sent because it wasn't available up here in Canada, but I DO remember most of what she said.
I go back to her statement that "this was just one day and I shouldn't be defined by this one day". (not totally verbatim but you get the gist)
Her entire "speech", and it was a speech she was giving, was riddled with "I" and "me".
Because of this one day, she shouldn't be given the ultimate punishment as she has so much to offer the world.
Because of this one day, she still deserves to give what she can even though her freedom would be taken away.
This one day...
(if you ignore the relationship with Travis and all the despicable things she did; if you ignore the premeditation of her crime and the cover-up that followed; if you ignore her treatment of the family with flowers and a letter after Travis' death; if you ignore her deadly accusations of pedophilia, abuse and porn watching)...
This one day was when she stabbed Travis 29 times and when he tried to get away, she slit his throat. Then she dragged him into the bathroom and for good measure, shot him in the head.
This one day showed the world who she really was - a cold and calculated murderess who used extreme cruelty when committing her crime.
To stand up there in front of the court, Travis' family AND the jury and speak about what a good person she really is with so much to give the world was just a normal presentation to her as if she was addressing an audience. It was like she was a guest speaker at a function.
To try and convince the jury through manipulation that she was worthy of living was ludicrous and a mockery.
Of course she would be defined by this one day.
This one day saw her commit a horrendous crime in a horrible, horrible manner AND showed that she had absolutely no remorse for what she did.
What is even more disturbing for me is that her allocution in this sentencing trial will be much of the same.
Once again, in her mind, she will give one final speech and show the world that she deserves to live - because, in her mind, the reality of the situation is that none of what led to this one day and all that followed was her fault.

Recalling Geffner and Fonseca by the defense (Arias) IMO is threefold.
1. To delay
2. To try to undue the testimony of DeMarte that was so compelling.
2. To reaffirm their defense theory that Arias IS mentally ill.
What they forget is that Martinez gets to have his turn to cross.
What they forget is that Arias is not incompetent and knows fully right from wrong.
The defense (Arias) has to do something to try and undo all the damage and this is their only way.
The defense must some how tie in their mitigating factors that they submitted and to date they have not done so.
They have tried, unsuccessfully, with all the abuse allegations. None was corroborated.
They have tried, unsuccessfully, with all the pedophilia and porn accusations. None were found to be true.
The only one that they really have left out of the 7 or 9 or whatever number they listed, is that she is mentally ill and the State cannot execute a mentally ill person.
So...they recall their experts.
But through all of this, they have never provided any proof of incompetence on Arias' part. In fact, they showed that she was of a high IQ and quite intelligent.
Their mitigating factors - IMO - do NOT by any means outweigh the evidence and that is the issue for the jury.
The defense (Arias) is screwed and they know it.

I'll chime-in on the Jodi gun theft!
1. 4 items reported stolen from 4 different rooms plus a VCR was discussed but not included in the police report due to confusion if it had been discarded or removed at some prior timeframe, drawers were opened and contents ruffled thru with small change and costume jewellery exposed' without police report notating theft!
1. Jodi reported that a $20.00 bill was missing from her room' I bet Jodi asked her grandparents for reimbursement!
2. $10.00 bill was reported missing from a room!
3. DVD player was reported missing from a room, (some claim remote control was required to operate' which is a possibility) Martinez believes the remote control Darryl said Jodi (left after breakfast and returned to drop-off) after hours or some long timeframe, belonged to the missing DVD player!
4. The door lock was a cheap slide-bar lock (no key needed) that had its screws pulled out of frameworks wood!
5. The gun had a clip full with hollow-tip bullets (so small a hand can cloak) and I expect a regular bullet could have been missing unnoticed.
Due to guns small size and hollow-tips heavier weight' I believe a regular bullet would have increased efficiency, hollow-tips mushroom and deflections posable.
A regular bullet spins or tumbles with penetration that hollow-tips don't offer!
Note I believe (Dr. Horn admitted possibility) gun was a inch away or touching Travis's head, with a towel or cloth muffling sound and eliminating burns = called stippling!

When I saw Jodi Arias give her allocution for a second time I thought of a black widow spider weaving a web of deception. She tried to deceive the jurors into believing she is not the liar, the seducer, the cold blooded murderer who premeditated and carried out a horrific murder in which her victim suffered extreme cruelty.
With a picture slide show, she tried to show them she was a normal child with a normal family and a good caring person. She has brothers and a sister and two parents who are still married. She had boyfriends and acted as a stepparent. She has nieces and nephews. She went hiking and to a child’s birthday party. She creates beautiful artwork. She donates her hair for wigs for cancer patients. She made a T shirt for survivors of domestic violence. Even if you don’t believe she is a domestic violence victim, this is a cause that she is passionate about.
In most mitigation cases for the death penalty, the family, teachers, former friends and boyfriends testify to the good character of the defendant but in this case none of them stepped forward because they knew in his cross examination Martinez would prove they were lying and bring out negative parts of Arias personality Arias does not want showcased.
I have no doubt that Arias will repeat her allocution with her Brag Bag of pictures, an art show and phony philanthropist act that she donated proceeds from her eye glasses and artwork to charity as a finale to the Jodi Arias Magic Show. When she was acting as her own attorney she chose witnesses to back up her illusion that she is the good caring normal person and Travis Alexander was the abuser, pedophile and sex maniac.
Dr. Fonseca, a sex expert from San Francisco, was purposely chosen to make Travis Alexander look like a sex crazed maniac who desired young women, girls and boys. Dr. Geffner was chosen to further smear Travis Alexander and paint Arias as an innocent victim. To do this he was asked to evaluate Arias and purposely skew the results by feeding her questions so the tests will not show she has Borderline Personality Disorder because that diagnosis proves she is terrified of abandonment and capable of violence and premeditating a murder.
Aileen Wuornos, who seduced and then brutally murdered men claiming they raped her, was diagnosed with BPD and was executed. Marissa DeVault, who murdered her husband with a hammer as he slept, was also diagnosed with BPD.
Geffner was also tasked with the job of proving Jodi Arias was telling the truth when she said Travis Alexander was a pedophile and abuser by analyzing an interview with Arias brother Carl and two affidavits from a man who knew Travis Alexander and a man who knew Bobby Juarez, Jodi Arias and her brother. Carl verified Arias story that their father was violent and beat them with belts and his friend said he witnessed Carl being thrown against a refrigerator by his father. He also said Bobby Juarez confessed to him that he hit and strangled Arias and said Arias was a battered woman. Marc McGee said in his sworn statement that he witnessed Travis beating Deanna Reid and Travis confessed to him that he had been molested as a child and was addicted to child porn. Geffner says that proves Jodi Arias is telling the truth.
When Arias was acting as her own attorney, she convinced her brother, his friend and Marc McGee to lie for her. She also convinced Bryan Neumeister to lie and say there was child porn on Alexander’s computer so it would look like she was telling the truth when she said Alexander was looking at child porn.
Of course with his rebuttal witnesses, Martinez proved that there was no child porn on the Bishop’s or Travis Alexander’s computer and that Deanna Reid didn’t even know Marc McGee and was out of the country when he claims he saw Travis beat her and that Arias told the psychologists she was not abused as a child and her parents did not use drugs.
So Arias devious plot to destroy Alexander’s good name and prove she is not a liar was a massive fail.
Her goal in allocation is to make sure she gets a life sentence so she can be in general population and weave her tale of deception to the other inmates. She needs to talk and manipulate and be the center of attention and she cannot do that if she is confined to death row where she is isolated from people for 23 hours a day and has very limited contact to the outside world.
The isolation will kill Jodi Arias faster than a needle. She thrives on manipulating other people with her tweeting, blogging, writing and telephoning lies about who she is and what she did.

I've been forced to limit membership there as well, but we have almost 200 folks there and it's a pretty good group. There are some undercover supporters there and they do report back to secret supporter groups, but we don't have as many issues because I keep the group clean (no name calling or shit stirring).
Observer - Nerm - Deluth can tell Brad their forum posting has been on Kristina Randal's blog for many months (I will repost this on JDT) and others can ask Brad discussing their thoughts!
Again due to JII supporters who hate and attack forums' Just Da Truth hasn't had new members for nearly a year, since when Brad changed from open acceptance to requesting membership! The main rule is never to personally attack' but all topic disagreement is friendly agree to disagree!

Arias, should she get LWOP, will be isolated for a number of years before any chance of entering general population in prison.
I have always said that this would be a slow death for her. Even with the prospects of getting into general population, the years that she will be on her own will only serve to drive her mad.
It has been said that BPD does not come on all of a sudden and manifests itself over time with more of the behaviours of this disorder becoming more extreme.
This has been definitively proven by her slaughter of Travis.
It can only escalade with the trauma of the DP and/or even with LWOP.
Being alone in a cell, whether for a few years or until she receives the death sentence will enhance her behaviours and skewed thinking.
Should she be released into general population if given LWOP, it will not serve her well in any way.
Hard core inmates within the prison will not tolerate her and her narcissistic personality. I can see her becoming a target to bring her down off of her pedestal. Her manipulative ways will not bode well in general population.
It should also be remembered that even if given the DP, this could be commuted to LWOP in the future. With the controversy over the DP, this could be a real possibility.
If she receives the DP, it will be no big deal to her because she feels she has a multitude of evidence that will work in the appeals process and she feels she will ultimately win.
If she receives LWOP, she feels it will be a walk in the park for her as she can still be a contributing member to society, both within the walls of the prison and in free society.
She also believes that she will be eventually exonerated as she said in an interview that (not verbatim) she was young, relatively healthy, does not smoke and there is evidence of longevity in her family.
Her allocution will once again be a joke, a speech filled with no remorse and a testimony to her wonderful character.

I slightly disagree Nern' Jodi is a endangerment to prison population including the guards, she will never afford an appeal that becomes accepted for to have a jury again, a free DP Arizona Supreme Court appeal (after DP judgement) is only for procedural argument with no new arguments allowed! She will be denied a free appeal on grounds of recreating expenditures and I'm saying a ineffective council argument in courts trial would again cost millions' the well has been dried-up, Jodi is forgotten history until she dies, she charms and advantages with uncanny ease, what we considere a worthless conquest is her joys delight, getting over is her main agenda, case in point' after getting her mug shot' actual arrest' Jodi concealed a blank piece of paper just to discover the ramifications of being confronted with breaking the rules, she tests every weakness and gets caught using phones without oversight due to unlocked cell doors = caused 3:day jailhouse lockdown, she becomes a hero when she makes fools of authority. If Jodi gets a swift DP 3 to 5 years (as I expect) their is prisoner crime deterrent advantage that seldom manifests!

That is the great thing about this forum - one can express their opinions and although not always agreed with, they are respected.
Jodi Arias is a pathological liar. It is inherent in her.
Unfortunately, she is not very good at lying as all of them have come back to haunt her.
All of her stories, her accusations and her perspective of a great family life where everyone has done something to her including in her relationships have been proven to be outright lies.
Inmates and prison guards are not stupid although there is always at least one exception to the rule.
She will continue her behaviour of lying and manipulating when in prison but she will not be tolerated.
She will be housed with hard-core people who think that no one is better than they are.
Guards are trained to see the manipulation of prisoners.
I do not think she will do well in the long run. Maybe initially, she will be able to con others but over time, her true personality will be exposed.
I am not saying that she would win her appeals or even raise enough money to enter the appeals process.
But it certainly will not be for lack of trying on her part.
Any gains that she felt she made while being incarcerated in jail for these many years, I blame on the Powers that be, namely Sheriff Joe, for much of them.
His narcissistic personality is in alignment with Arias and he will do anything that benefits him. When it doesn't, he comes across as the strict warden who tolerates nothing in HIS jail.
Although Arias takes delight in her treacherous ways of doing things, prison is not the free world nor the jail.
I believe that eventually, she will not be tolerated, by inmates nor the people that guard her and are assigned to make sure she follows the rules.
She will only be a number when she gets to Perryville.

The hearing on the motion for a mistrial charging prosecutorial misconduct because of Martinez cross examination of Geffner was cancelled for today so court resumes Wednesday at 9:30 am.
The Surrebutal case will begin. Geffner, Fonseca and Smith will all be recalled to rebut what DeMarte and the state computer experts said and to reinforce the defense's lie that Travis Alexander was a womanizing, sex crazed pedophile who brutalized the poor little Jodi Arias. I'm not looking forward to hearing Travis being trashed again but I am curious to see if Arias changes her allocution and look forward to hearing closing arguments.
It should be over by the end of the month and then I am done with trials and Jodi Arias. I have no interest in watching the retrial once the footage is released or discussing it any further. I hope she gets the death sentence and I hope to never hear another peep out of her lying mouth.
Lunarscope, thanks for all the trouble you went to to try to get us on Brad's boards. I am not on Facebook but I registered on Yuku last week but have not been approved by the administrator. They told me the screen name Observer was unavailable so I used another screen name and said I agreed with the Just Da Truth blogs and wished to post on the Jodi Arias retrial board. It is okay because the retrial is almost over and I don't have enough time or energy to write on two different blogs. As the trial winds down, I have less and less to say that hasn't already been said.
