Duluth, You will notice that my plans have changed in later post. I was getting angry with Nurmi yesterday as well, but then I sat back and just considered the source and all the horrid ploys that the defense (Arias) have used over these 5 months and I stopped listening (or rather reading) about what he was saying. I looked at quick recaps instead and just decided he wasn't worth my time. I was waiting for Martinez and he did not disappoint me. Now we must again hear the same drivel today from Nurmi. Then, finally, this case goes to the jury. I believe the DP is more of a possibility than I did before but I am not on the jury. It is too bad if they come back with life as this will drag on for some more time. But then, who knows what JSS will do? RE: End is Near Hopefully - Lunarscope - 02-25-2015 I hope the Alexander family speak to reporters on the courthouse steps' with their Wrongful Death Attorney displaying intent to Sue! That goes regardless of jury punishment decision! The 13 juror recap of yesterdays closing arguments was moving! I don't have the later post saying your plans have changed but I am sure it will show at some point. I do hope you go to London at some point. That is too too nice. I got so mad yesterday that I now wish the jury would vote for death. hahahaaa!!!! And I am against the death penalty. I can say with great assurance that I mainly want her to never see the light of day again. Everybody seems to think that if given the choice, the judge won't sentence to to life with possibility of release after 25 years. ` RE: End is Near Hopefully - Justice - 02-25-2015 [quote='NERN' Duluth, You will notice that my plans have changed in later post. It is too bad if they come back with life as this will drag on for some more time. But then, who knows what JSS will do? [/quote] Martinez did not disappoint me either. And I don't ever put much confidence in Jeff's 'opinions'. There was no reason for Juan to prove once again that the murder was preplanned or that it was barbaric and that '2 minutes' of torture is actually a LONG time and that 27 stab wounds did indeed hurt. This time, the only thing he had to do was to briefly go over the evidence he had already presented, through reliable sources (witnesses) and evidence that proved logic and reason. He urged the jurors to search for evidence from the defense that proved any childhood trauma or trauma from Travis that was being presented as 'domestic violence'. But they won't find any proof of any violence against her or any other mitigating factor other than what Arias has told them. As they look back at the evidence that has been presented in this long, LONG trial, they surely will notice it was the Prosecution 'expert' who diagnosed Arias with BPD. It had not been the defense witnesses. In fact, the defense witnesses fought against that diagnosis! To them, she had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which they will plainly see could only be because she had lied at the time she was diagnosed or it had been brought on by the horrible, barbaric crime she committed. They will also remember that the defense USED the Prosecution diagnosis as one of THEIR mitigation factors. Then, they must go by the jury instructions. If no mitigation factors are proven, they must go with the death penalty. I think they will easily conclude that she is definitely not a 'mentally ill GIRL' as Nurmi has been repeating and repeating in the hope that will stick in their minds. I really don't expect deliberations to last very long. RE: End is Near Hopefully - NERN - 02-25-2015 I have been reading what Nurmi is saying today in his final closing. Seems to me he is retrying his case. He is very blunt this time around. Deanna is a liar. Bishop Parker is a liar. McGee is truthful. DeMarte is biased. State distracted jury yesterday in closing. Travis was masturbating. Travis did have porn. Someone please tell me what planet this man is on! Martinez making objections today - good for him! Lunarscope, I hadn't thought of a jury thinking of if they vote life that the judge might give her possibility of release after 25 years. That is an interesting way of looking at it. Also, wouldn't her time served be applied to the 25 years? RE: End is Near Hopefully - Observer - 02-25-2015 After the jury saw the autopsy pictures of Travis Alexander with his neck slit from ear to ear and riddled with stab wounds and heard the Alexander family and friends sobbing, it was a bad move for Nurmi to again attack Travis Alexander in the courtroom. Again, the message he is conveying is you can't kill her for killing a bad man who deserved to die because he watched porn, dated other women and wouldn't marry Jodi Arias, the Goddess of Love. I hope the jury is offended by Nurmi's attack on the victim, constant sex talk and the fact that the defendant wouldn't lower herself to grovel and beg for her life. It shows Jodi Arias has no remorse, she is only sorry for getting caught, she believes she was justified in torturing and murdering him because he abandoned her and she is insulted that she was arrested, convicted of premeditated murder and is facing the death penalty. She believes she should get a medal for ridding the earth of such a bad man. I hope they deliberate for a few minutes and then come back with a death sentence to show the world that the victim is important and that a cold blooded murderer can't get away with murder by saying, "I can commit a horrific murder but you can't kill me because I am a girl." RE: End is Near Hopefully - NERN - 02-25-2015 Nurmi is just having one last grandstand moment. Covering his ass so that Arias can never say he did not fight vigorously to save her life. He keeps saying that the State wanted to distract the jury from the evidence. What Martinez had standing on his shoulder and having his back WAS the evidence that has been proven to substantiate his case. What Nurmi has are the lies of the defendant, the lies of his witnesses along with unmitigated gall! I do not know how much lower he can stoop to get his points out there. I believe that he knows how well Martinez did yesterday and he thinks he might as well say ANYTHING in this closing. RE: End is Near Hopefully - Observer - 02-25-2015 Now we are on verdict watch. Jurors 2 and 13 are the alternates. Nern, I assume you are talking about going to London, Canada, not London, England, correct? I read where London, Ontario, is going through an extreme cold spell. Do you live near London, Ontario? I have a daughter who moved to Toronto last year. She says the winters are brutal but the summers are nice. It rained in Mesa and our temperatures dropped from the 80s to the 60s and we feel cold. I can't imagine -13 temperatures. I guess you are used to it. |
