Of course they were joking - what else would they say? Too much of a coincidence to make a remark like what was said just as MDR is walking by. To do something like this face to face, no matter how they say it was innocent, shows nerve on someone's part. And for me, that can be as scary as a knife.
The stats that you quote are terrible and probably Sheriff Joe used them in his profiling - which is illegal.
Anyway, I do not want to get into a debate over this.

So.....on another note, what do you all think about Lonnie being called for the State when he is a defense witness? I do not have an issue with it. Juan is just trying to clean things up - IMO.
From what I just read in tweets from Tammy Rose and Zoey Watson, a group of trial watchers were singing the song as they were going to lunch and Maria de la Rosa just happened to come out and hear it. It wasn't even meant as a taunt at her.
It's another ploy by the defense to make a mountain out of a molehill and make it look like the Jodi Arias team and witnesses are targets of trial watchers.
Martinez is calling Lonnie to prove even the defense expert didn't find porn on the computer to prove there was no porn on the computer in 2009 when both the state and defense experts looked at the computer to rebut what Smith said.,
When the state is up, the witnesses come when called and take the stand. When it is the defense's turn, Nurmi always has an excuse to delay the trial because his witnesses are never available.
I wondered if Jodi Arias Updates twitter site would capitalize on Nurmi's complaint. They did, calling Martinez and De La Rosa Mexicans. Well, Arias is Mexican too. But she won't ever admit it.

It was Arias' court appointed investigator who died earlier this week.
Nern: As we discussed awhile back, Dorian Bonds, was the P-I Arias hired to work on her appeal. He worked pro bono so he could get his 15 minutes of fame on HLN as a legal analyst. He was not part of the defense team or he would not have been on TV because the judge forbid any defense team members or prosecution team members to talk to the media. Bonds did not die so Karas is referring to the private investigator that the defense had hired awhile back to do its investigation. Since the defense is entitled to an investigator on the team, they were appointed a new one.

State to call Lonnie Dworkin as final witness
JM has indicated that he will be calling Lonnie Dworkin to the stand next. As you may recall, Dworkin testified for the Defense during the actual trial. He showed the "Travis'" panties and testified that there could be porn on Travis Alexander's computer.
Could be interesting! From the tweets it seems that Dworkin is not sure how this will work as he is usually hired by the Defense. Willmont and Nurmi decried unfair suprise and JM informed the Court that they had known for months, and he would even provide a copy of his questions to the Defense!

- The state is being very accommodating with questions in advance, etc. Is this to ensure they don’t cross any lines that could create appellate issues or a mistrial?

- How common is this?
As far as the trial getting close to ending, I know Nurmi is doing his best to create delays. Is it for the Omnibus hearing that keeps getting pushed out? I loved it when the judge called him out on his witnesses not being available until the 18th and wanted to call them to verify.
Lunarscope, Martinez pointed out to Lonnie Dvorkin that he was looking at Arias computer when he said there was porn on Alexander's computer. She had pictures of her breast implants and he called that porn.
He testified that there was no porn on Alexander's computer.

Nern, the woman who sang and danced "La Cucharacha" in Spanish was joking. It was in bad taste but I wouldn't call it scary or racist. De La Rosa wasn't targeted because she is Hispanic but because of her mean tweets calling everybody who doesn't agree with her stupid and clueless.

- Mr. Alexander was essentially "past" JAA by the time she move back to CA - The last two months of his life (after celebrating NOT speaking with JAA the whole day), he does not mention her name even once in any of his journal entries.
- Interesting to again see the timeline for the whole Cancun trip, where he gets an official email in Mid-April confirming he was going, and exactly two weeks later he is rejoicing that Ms. Hall agreed to accompany him!...And yet, JAA had all of her various lies associated with when/how she found out he was taking Ms. Hall (and an even worse lie, that somehow JAA did not care that Mr. Alexander was taking Ms. Hall). - The chilling nature of JAA making an entry in HIS journal when she moved back to CA, coupled with his awareness that his other journal was missing (and stolen by JAA, as Mr. Alexander told his friend Taylor Searle), again shows the creepy nature of her BPD in her utter lack of respect for any boundaries. The words she wrote were gracious and kind, and would have been fine had these words been written on a greeting card she handed him when she left. But her combo stalker-BPD tendancy in this instance to write them in his journal is just the kind of over-the-top and intrusive behavior that drove Mr. Alexander (and likely her other past romantic interests) away from her.
- In the end, the hopeful and positive and optimistic journal entries from Mr. Alexander in the last two months of his life, especially with the touches of his naivete (and even his immaturity), points out all the more how completely tragic and aweful it was that he was violently murdered at only 30 years old, right on the cusp of taking the next key steps in his life of finding a wife, settling down, having children...etc!...Which, of course, is yet ANOTHER reason why bitter, angry, jealous, raging, BPD-addled JAA decided to kill him when she did!
Note - plus being a published author and advancements in public speaking career!
Thanks Lunarscope, for the comments about Travis Alexander, his journal and his blog, "Why I want to marry a gold digger." It shows Travis Alexander's character. Nowhere in these blogs or journals does he mention Jodi Arias or sex. He talks about his love for life and his goals. He is saying he wants a wife who appreciates him for "the gold" inside. We know Jodi Arias only wanted him for the sex and the BMW, the house and the dog. It was all about what he could give her. In her journal, she criticizes him and says "there is something wrong with that boy." What she is talking about is that he is talking to and spending time with other women and male friends and not focusing on her and committing to her. If you look at his text messages and emails, he says Jodi is a great girl but she is not for him and the only complaints he has against her is her stalking him and not moving on. He is moving on. His life is filled with church, friends, adventures, work. Travis was Jodi's life. She didn't care about Travis's needs, wants or dreams. She only wanted him because she thought he could give her the "freaky sex" and house, BMW and money she wanted.
Thanks Dr. KR for the 2013 video of the FBI profiler's analysis of Jodi Arias in which he calls her a master manipulator, brilliant sociopath, conman, pathological liar who uses people, has no empathy and is not very criminally sophisticated. I had not seen or heard that one. He just reinforces what I have thought all along.
It's too bad Martinez couldn't have used a criminal profiler instead of a psychologist to analyze Jodi Arias.
But for some reason, the defense is allowed to trash the victim without any evidence, but the prosecutor is limited on what he can say about the goodness of the victim and the bad traits of his murderer.
