I thought the Just Da Truth blog posted Dec. 8, 2014, "Jodi Arias: The Nurminator" was brilliant because Brad points out that Nurmi and Wilmot are using the same tactics that the law professor teaches her students on the ABC TV Show "How to Get away with Murder" and his uncle a public defender told him he uses.

Here’s some excerpts from the blog of the public defender techniques Nurmi is using:

Discredit the witnesses: No matter who it is or what their standing is, do what you can to cast doubt on their expertise or credentials. Whatever it takes to knock a little of their shine off—it's all fair game.

Willmott showed us how that's done when she went toe-to-toe with DeMarte and tried to imply she was too young, too inexperienced or had somehow cheated the system. Notice Willmott didn't deny DeMarte's assessment that Jodi had a personality disorder, because she found that to be valuable info, but she did try to paint DeMarte as a young, over-eager fledgling who had barely got her feet wet.

When we wonder why witnesses like Deanne Reid, and Lisa and others of Travis's friends are pulled through the wringer when they're not the ones on trial, this is why. Willmott and Nurmi are playing this strategy to the hilt.

As it turns out, from my research, this is the most commonly used defense tactic. We see this right now with all police and prosecution mistakes taking center stage. Jodi is suppose to be pleading for her life and showing mitigators, instead they're arguing over who plugged in a computer 6 1/2 years ago. While in the normal course of evidence gathering plugging in a computer without protection is not the end of the world, Nurmi would have you believe it's a far greater crime than slashing a naked man's throat.

Bury the evidence in bullshit: This is what my uncle spoke of. Create confusion, distraction, ambivalence and basically gas-lighting the jury to the point they don't feel confident in anything they think is true. Once they reach that point, they are backed into reasonable doubt territory. Again, we see this with supporters. Their heads are spinning with all the supposed confusion, but in reality, it's all black and white and the defense team has muddied the waters to such a point they can't help but doubt their own opinions.

Nurmi's biggest "bury the evidence in bullshit" is all this smoke and mirrors about Travis and the porn. No one cares if Travis looked at porn, but Nurmi wants that jury to think it's a very important part of the case. Nurmi is banking on a jury that is so confused by all the bullshit, and probably not very savvy or particularly smart about the defense strategies, that they throw up their hands and give her Life, just because they can't live with themselves giving her death when they don't know what to believe.

If you doubt any of this, ask yourself why we still haven't heard why Jodi's life should be spared. Ask yourself where are all the mitigators that Jodi was going to introduce. Ask yourself why all this 'evidence' came up now, at a time when it's the perfect opportunity for Nurmi to file motions to delay as long as possible. Ask yourself also why, in her literal hour of need, her witnesses refuse to take the stand. It's not just one, it's 3, including Jodi herself. They know that delays the trial, and the defense team is trying to squeak in a Superior Court ruling, knowing that will take up even more time.

Those witnesses, if they really cared about Jodi, would get on that stand no matter what. Look at all the supporters who say 'damn the haters, I'd be there for Jodi", and yet, people who are closer to her, refuse to take the stand. They're refusing because it's Nurmi's job to coax them to do just that. All he has to do is suggest if they're so 'afraid' of haters and the media, they don't have to take the stand and what a wonderful thing that will be to Jodi after all.

Nurmi would not be doing any of this if Jodi were innocent. Nurmi is using these slimy under-handed strategies because he has nothing else to fall back on. These are the last ditch efforts of a defense attorney who knows his client is guilty of first degree premeditated murder and his job title demands he pulls out the big slimy guns and deflect the juries attention to the true crime sitting over there on the other side on the courtroom with the smirk on her face and the giggle beneath her breath.

Hey guys!

I like to invite you all to the message board I created so we can continue the conversations we start here and on Twitter. Please continue to comment on this blog where appropriate because my readers love to see all sides of the stories, but after a couple days everyone moves on, and the comments get lost.

Everyone is invited, including fans of Tila, or any other trainwreck. All I ask is that you don't flame people just for the joy of flaming them, because it drives away people with negativity.

I can make individual forums for particular celebs and quasi-celebs if you think that would help focus the conversations. I notice on my Twitter feed there is a lot of chatter about Jenelle and others from Teen Mom, so we can have a Teen Mom forum. I don't watch that show, or a bunch of others, so just let me know what you need, and I'll try to oblige!

Yuku is kinda cool because it allows you to make a profile, share pix and vids, and interact via private messages. I considered just letting my Facebook page stand in as a forum for everyone, but it's too difficult to follow conversations, and if you want to search for a particular post or comment from a few months back, good luck, it's almost impossible on FB. Yuku allows you to archive all the threads and then search them going all the way back to the first post. You can embed videos easily, which I like a lot. You can also keep active threads at the top of the forum for as long as people are interested in accessing it, which means even year old threads won't get lost.

Since JDT made yuku private' I don't know how to access beyond web search of Just Da Truth yuku, but I am working on getting Brad to read my yuku ask administration question for how sign-in works, We all had to sign-in to yuku first then join, I'm asking for someone to Facebook or twitter brad!

I agree with your comments.

I think the strategy to discredit witnesses is a common one used by many defense attorneys. I also think that the majority of them do this but not in the slimy way that Nurmi and Wilmott have done.

Burying the evidence in bull shit is probably used as well by others but again, not to the degree that this defense (Arias) has done.

I do not think this jury is confused but rather very engaged in the evidence presented. I believe they see what the defense is trying to do.

We have closing arguments as of yet and despite all the tactics this defense team may have used, Martinez will bring back into the courtroom and the jury the "human" Travis Alexander.
He is an eloquent speaker who is able to relate the evidence in a concise manner but hitting home with the facts.
He will humanize Travis for the court and remind them that he was much loved by many during his life.
He will dehumanize Arias by the very actions that she has been convicted of.
He will detail the senseless slaughter of Travis in all of its graphic details to remind them of the extreme cruelty that Arias inflicted on Travis.

So....all these delays to muddle up the facts for the jury by the defense will have been to no avail.

I very much doubt this link works, I asked the board for Brad's Twitter or Facebook address on a new thread, soon I'll have something.

Thank you Lunarscope for the link to Brad’s blog. As I read his story about his ex girlfriend I got even a greater understanding of why Travis Alexander didn’t throw Jodi Arias out of his house and call the police when she slipped through his garage the day she stabbed him to death as he took a shower.

Stalkers like Jodi and Brad’s ex girlfriend seem harmless enough. They are charming, deny doing anything wrong and try to turn it around to make the victim look crazy for accusing them of stalking them.

When Arias called Flores at the murder scene, she said Travis was being stalked and someone was slashing his tires and said it had to be two intruders because Alexander weighed almost 200 lbs. At that time, he had talked to Alexander's friends who found the body and they said Arias was the one who slashed his tires and he knew she was inserting herself in the investigation to try to throw him off her trail and to find out what he knew.

At the murder trial, the defense said in their opening statement that the jurors will hear that Travis Alexander accused Jodi Arias of stalking him but that was not true.

Mimi Hall, the friend who was going to Cancun with Travis, testified that Travis had a stalker who crawled through his doggy door, sent threatening emails to his girlfriend and followed him on dates. She said he hadn’t mentioned the name but said it was a jealous ex girlfriend.

When Arias first concocted the Ninja story after spending the night in Yreka jail, I think she deliberately said one of the Ninjas was female to pin it on Deanna Reid because in the letter she wrote to the family she mentions Deanna Reid was the problem in her and Travis’s relationship because she was a jealous ex girlfriend to make it look like the jealous ex girlfriend Travis said was stalking him was Deanna Reid.

Dr. DeMarte testified that Lisa Andrews Daidone said in an interview that she was at Alexander’s home and the lights were going on and off and Alexander went to investigate and found Arias in his home. She also said Arias was found hiding under his Christmas tree and admitted in a text message to taking his diamond ring he bought for another woman out of his bedroom drawer and having it in her possession and that she would explain later. I’d love to hear that explanation.

Arias herself testified that she looked in Alexander’s window and saw him making out with a woman and her bra was unhooked and that she got upset and confronted him. She denied she was stalking him but that she came over to get something out of his garage where he stored some of her belongings and she wanted to see if he was home.

Arias was so smug and smirking when she testified under Martinez cross examination that the day she murdered him, Alexander did not meet her at the front door and let her in but that she went in through the garage and was standing in the hallway watching him with his back to her for a long time before his dog, Napoleon, saw her and ran to her and Travis turned around.

She also testified that the roommates might have been home at night but not in the daytime and that one of them came home at 6:30 pm. Travis Alexander was slaughtered between 5:02 and 5:04 pm according to the time stamp on the last picture of Alexander alive and the picture of him lying on the floor with his throat slit.

Arias wanted the jury and the public to know that she was the expert on Alexander and she knew everything about his and his roommate’s comings and goings and only she knew how to get in his house without going through the front door, which she admitted was usually unlocked.

Martinez used Arias testimony against her in proving the stalking and the felony murder charge as well as the premeditated first degree murder charge. The only reason Arias isn’t resuming her testimony in the sentencing phase is that she doesn’t want Martinez questioning her because he turned what she said in the last trial against her and used it to convict her.

Nurmi tried to convince the jury in the murder trial Arias didn’t premeditate the crime or she could have shot him in the head when his back was to her as he sat on the computer or when he was asleep.

But the simple explanation for that is that she wanted to prolong her time with Alexander as long as she could and she wanted him to suffer and feel the pain she felt when he refused to marry her but admitted he was looking for a woman to marry. Shooting him in the head would be too easy of a death and he wouldn’t even know she did it.

Arias waited for the perfect opportunity when Alexander was the most vulnerable and couldn’t fight back and started stabbing him in the shower just an hour and a half before she knew one of his roommates would be home. That way he would know she was his murderer and suffer as she did. She never believed he would get out of that shower and all the blood and any DNA evidence linking Arias to the crime would be washed down the drain.

I tend to agree with you Observer.

Arias has always thought that she was smart in her own right and that those who were around her were rather stupid.

Arias believed that whatever her story was, changed or not, would be believed because she is smart and can use her sweet personality to manipulate others and make them believe her.

She testified for 18 days on the stand, partly because the defense team dragged it out as she wanted it to be. The longer on the stand, the more human she would seem to the jury and the more time she has to manipulate.
The trouble was that it all backfired on her when she came up against Martinez. She underestimated him and his diligence because she thought she was smarter than him.
In the end, she is the one who gave enough testimony to prove the State's case and therefore she was convicted as charged.

Yes, I think she wanted Travis to suffer greatly AND know that she was the cause of this physical suffering that resulted in his painful death.
But I wonder if Travis had said, yup, I want you to come to Cancun with me and giving her hope for their relationship, if she would have done her horrible deed on that day.
Of course, when he didn't, she set her plan in the works and we all know the result.
She did not snap but rather methodically carried out her slaughter.

And by the way, I agree that she said one of the ninjas was a woman because she was setting up another story that it was in fact Deanna who killed Travis.

I applaud the writer for sharing his story AND how it relates to Arias.

Brad’s story about his ex girlfriend going to funerals of people she didn’t know and pretending to be overcome with grief as if she was a close friend and visiting a neighbor of Brad’s whom she didn’t know in the hospital six nights in a row and asking personal questions sounds like Jodi Arias also.

Arias murders Travis Alexander and then flies from Yreka to Mesa to attend his memorial service and writes about how much he meant to her, tells his friends that Travis is leaving his dog and books to her, visits his home where she slaughtered him and gives her DNA and fingerprints willingly to the police thinking if there were fingerprints or DNA she’d just say “I was in that home all the time. I was his girlfriend and I cleaned his house.”

Arias sends a dozen white Irises to Travis Alexander’s grieving grandmother because she claims Iris was the name Alexander wanted for their first daughter.

Brad’s story about his ex girlfriend visiting his boss and saying she was worried about him because he had mental problems sounds like Jodi Arias too. She hacked into his email account and sent threatening emails to his girlfriends and accuses Alexander of being everything she is: violent, controlling, possessive, jealous and sucking her back into the relationship.

Fonesca and Geffner testified that Alexander had a Jeckyl and Hyde personality and was violent and angry when Martinez proved with her own words and actions that Arias is the one who can smile sweetly one minute and then kick and punch holes in walls and doors and pose and take pictures of Travis Alexander smiling sweetly and then stab him 29 times, slit his throat and shoot him in the head minutes later.

Arias testified that she tried to help Alexander with his attraction to young boys and girls by getting him pamphlets and urging him to get help and by offering him sex.

Arias stenciled Travis Alexander’s name on a pair of shorts and top after killing him and took pictures of them a week before she was arrested as evidence that he was possessive and owned her when the truth was she was always trying to keep him from talking to his friends and girlfriends in person, on the phone or in emails and texts.

Arias fabricated an email she claimed Alexander forced her to write and send to Abe Abdehaldi saying their friendship was over to prove he was controlling and possessive. Not only did Abe take the stand and testify that he never got the email, Martinez proved that Abe’s email address was not on the email so he couldn’t have got it.

Abe also testified that Arias had complained repeatedly to him that Alexander wouldn’t commit and he told her that Alexander was not into her and to find someone else, which proves she was the one who was obsessed with, controlling and possessive of Travis Alexander.

With Deanna Reid’s testimony that Travis never put his hands on her in an offensive way and Bishop Vernon Parker’s testimony that there was no child porn on his computer and three forensic computer experts testifying that there was no child porn on Alexander’s hard drive, there is no doubt that Arias and McGee are lying and deliberately trying to smear Travis Alexander’s name to keep her off death row.

As for DeMarte’s testimony, Martinez was leading her to focus on Arias snide, sarcastic, bitchy, clinging, stalking behavior in interviews with Arias cousin, grandparents, boss and coworker and former boyfriends and Travis’s friends.

Like Nern says, in his closing argument Martinez is going to tie it all together and bring up the premeditation, the extreme cruelty of the crime through autopsy pictures and Arias pattern of pursuing men, falling in love quickly, becoming clingy, possessive, jealous and then when they want to break it off stalking them and trying to win them back.

Observer, I just hope Juan's attempt to tie it all together showing the premeditation, gas cans, license plates upside down, cell phone off, etc., etc., etc. will show the jury what a stalking creepy murderer Arias is. I cannot help but worry that there are jury members like the foreman of the original trial and I do think there are. As I have said before, I am so grateful that at least that jury had the good sense to convict her of murder. I fear that Nurmi has taken so many months to confuse the actual issues of the murder that there will be a few or at least one who will feel pity for Arias, which is something she specializes in. Her type are so good at making people feel sorry for her, for instance, Travis and definitely Lavilette, who I believe lied her hiney off on the stand because of her "feelings" for Arias. And as we know, Travis kept taking it and taking it and taking it from that creep - because, I believe, he was a very generous, kind man. I can only wish he had had some of the qualities that the defense experts SAY he had. If he did have some of those qualities, he would have dumped her sorry hiney even way before he did. If he had only told her to stay away from his home, that she was NOT welcome in his home, and refused to take calls from her, possibly he would be alive today, but (unlike the defense experts' testimonies and lies and/or total ignorance and lack of education) he was no doubt raised to be a kind, helpful person by his grandma and his religion and he was unfortunately sucked in by her sexual ..... I don't even know how to describe how she has power over people by her sexual power. It is such a shame. I will never believe that he was so stupid as to give her his email, facebook, cellphone passwords. I think she is so creepy that she somehow figured those out on her own. She is beyond disgusting. I am just saying here and now that I feel like she has been able to "connect" with some man or men and possibly woman or women because she does have a strange seductive power, certainly the foreman of the original jury was not thinking with his brain if you understand my meaning. I can't even imagine what the defense has in store for thier final sur-sur-rebuttal. And I am now remembering how the creep had the audacity to tell the jury that she is a SURVIVOR of domestic abuse (thank you so much, Vilette) and now has a business selling survivor T-shirts. Give me a break. This is a murdering, creepy, disgusting manipulator who would go on to murder many more, I do believe.
