Look at what I found and have been reading.  I don't know which site I was on that directed to this site, but it sure has lots of information that I did not know.  If most are like me, I didn't start keeping up with the Arias trial until it came on television.  But this info goes back to day one.  I hope the whole thing does not take up the space here, but the link itself is sure worth seeing.  It will give us plenty to ponder until Monday morning when trial begins again.

A list of what went down behind the scenes in the Arias trial from day 1 (Limited to what I think we will all find important or interesting, especially in light of what is going on now) FYI:
Until 06/10/11 Sally Duncan was the judge, NOT Stephens and quite a few requests/motions were denied when Duncan was the judge. On this date Stephens was assigned as trial judge for the case.

(105) Information Regarding Jodi Arias Trial (includes links - WARNING: some links contain graphic photos and materials)

Justice, thanks for the link to the timeline of defense motions from the time Jodi Arias was indicted for murder and extradited to Phoenix from Yreka.

Much of this information was new to me because I had probably heard about the murder on the news but I didn't follow the case until the trial started.

I was surprised to hear there was another judge presiding over the case but not surprised to hear about the Defense Motion to Strike State’s Notice of Intent to Seek DP BECAUSE lethal injection will result in cruel and unusual punishment (Yes, they actually went there!!) This was denied by Judge Duncan in the minutes of 1/12/10 and 1/7/10 Motion to allow jury to consider lethal injection as a mitigating factor, that Maricopa County Attorney’s office be disqualified from the case, as a matter of conflict of interest, that fingerprints and gun theft be excluded, that Travis Alexander not be referred to as a victim, etc. because those are standard motions.

According to Beth Karas, Maria Schaffer, one of Arias' first defense attorneys, is also one of Maricopa County's top capital attorneys which means she has the experience and the knowledge to file motions to get the death penalty off the table, try to preclude all the evidence against her and charge prosecutorial misconduct. Now it is interesting that in his motion to get the death penalty off the table Nurmi accused Shaffer of ineffective counsel because she turned on the computer in the evidence room and a virus protection program erased some files, which the judge said made no difference because the state had the original copy of the hard drive and no major files were erased and it didn't affect the verdict.

This was also new to me:

8/27/12 In response to the lack of remorse motion, the court determined that it is acceptable for the State to argue no lack of remorse, AND in fact the precedent includes the Defendant not being able to use HAVING REMORSE as a mitigator in the penalty phase, when defendant continues to avoid taking responsibility for the crime, which includes claiming SELF-DEFENSE to the end. This like the author says is "a big reason why they are concentrating on her being crazy, because if she continues to stress self defense, she can’t use remorse, and she doesn’t really have any mitigators that have any weight at all, so she can’t afford to lose any."

This was also news to me: "The biggest delay in this trial, from date set in August, 2011 to Feb. 2, 2012, was due to the Defense expert witness having some health issue, so whoever it was would not be able to testify, (apparently EVER), so the Defense had to get a different expert witness, and the trial was delayed 6 months to give them time for whatever had to be done to get this new expert involved and ready to testify."

Until I read, this information, I didn't know that Dr. Cheryl Karp was not able to testify because of illness and replaced by Samuels and LaViolette. Dr. Karp is the psychologist who first saw Jodi Arias and diagnosed her with PTSD. I thought Dr. Karp was not called to testify because Arias changed the number of times Alexander physically abused her to make it look believable after reading LaViolette's book on domestic violence that DV escalates from a push to a slap to a kick to a choke. Dr. DeMarte testified that Dr. Karp diagnosed Arias with PSTD because she had told her of numerous physical abuse cases (too many to count.) However, Arias only mentioned four incidents of physical abuse to Samuels, LaViolette and DeMarte and Geffner said she mentioned five incidents of abuse to him.

I cannot open the link that was provided- says page not available. Is there another link that I can use.
this information sounds really interesting and filled with things that I did not know either.
Thanks

I saw this photo of Arias' Mom and Aunt also and my first thought was how easily they mugged for the camera.

They make it look like this trial to determine whether Arias lives or dies is just another walk in the park for them.

I agree that when this trial is over, they will milk their notoriety as a murderess' family for all it is worth. Yes, they will be on every talk show they can get on.
Probably the most noteworthy will be Dr. Phil. This is a man who has answers for absolutely everything and having them on his show would serve his own agenda of being in the limelight.
You can bet your life that I will NOT watch it or any other program that they are on.

Hmmm.....think the smiles are because they know they are finally almost rid of their horrible daughter/niece?
They play the role of the supportive family for effect - except where it counts - coming forward in this trial and pleading for Arias' life.
Says a lot to me.
With Arias out of the picture once sentenced, they can move forward in their lives in a way they have never known - fame and fortune - and get their 15 min.
So, in this trial the defense (Arias) is not stating any self defense theory because it shows her lack of remorse and therefore they are bringing in the mental illness defense? Is that what you are referring to?

But will the self defense theory not get in through Martinez in his questioning of DeMarte and the playing of Arias' testimony from the first trial?
I see that the State cannot use lack of remorse in their case in this trial but by bringing in her self defense story, will that not infer to the jury that she has had no remorse?
I would guess if this is true, then that is why she said her pitiful words of remorse in her short testimony during this trail.

Is there no way that Martinez can enlighten the jury that once again her story has changed?
1. She wasn't there
2. Ninja story
3. Self Defense
4. Now mental illness

Can he not say that she was convicted based on her self defense story and all of her lies and now that she is in the sentencing phase, she has again come up with another?

I believe that the jury must remember that she was convicted and no change in story can undo this at this time. They must base their decision on evidence presented now AND importantly that she has already been convicted. Only after sentencing can Arias launch an appeal on her guilt phase.

Please help me with this as I am finding it very confusing.
Nern, I was just quoting what the site said. I don't know the answers to your questions. Try this link and see if you can access the site. It has a wealth of information about the trial, much of it history.

https://www.facebook.com/notes/389066717873890/

I think all the defense would have to do to convince the jury she was mentally ill would be to show them the arrest tape where she mutters to herself that she should have remembered to put on her makeup, flops her hair back and forth and does headstands so she will have color in her face and her hair will be bouncy and fluffy for her mug shot, which she told the media she knew would be all over the Internet. She also breaks into song and looks through the waste basket. This behavior to the normal person makes her look crazy as a loon.

Of course, Jodi Arias would not allow her defense to show that tape because it would embarrass her and sociopaths can't stand be embarrassed. She would rather embarrass Travis Alexander's family and all the state witnesses but never herself. She wants the jury to only see her looking nice and sweet because after all she is perfect and never did a thing wrong in her whole life. She wanted only to love and cuddle and marry Travis Alexander and he only wanted sex and to abuse her and she just wasn't herself that day.

I think she wishes he would have committed to her so she didn't have to kill him but she does not have remorse for killing him.

She said in a text message to Travis Alexander that without him she couldn't breath.

So it gave me goose bumps when I read the lyrics to one of the songs she was singing in the lockup:

Here With Me by DIDO

I didn't hear you leave
I wonder how am I still here?
And I don't wanna move a thing
It might change my memory

Oh I am what I am
I'll do what I want but I can't hide
And I won't go I won't sleep I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me

And I won't leave and I can't hide I cannot be
Until you're resting here with me

I don't wanna call my friends
For they might wake me from this dream
And I can't leave this bed
Risk forgetting all that's been

Oh I am what I am
I'll do what I want but I can't hide
And I won't go I won't sleep and I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me
I may be alone in saying this, but I truly wonder if the voice on the ‘sex tape’ is Travis! I’ve listened to some of his Motivational speeches and honestly, to me, the sex tape voice sounds more like Darryl Brewer than Travis. Listen to Darryl Brewer speaking on the link below in an interview he gave after deciding to 'show his face'.

Also, the ‘penis’ photo that she claims Travis sent to her…if you look closely at the nail beds and compare that to Travis hands and nail beds, that is NOT Travis' hand. But, if you watch this video of Darryl Brewer, there are several times his hands are shown clearly. Pause and take a good look. The penis photo sure does match Darryl’s hand! It does not match Travis' nail beds at all.

Exclusive: Jodi Arias' ex-boyfriend says what he couldn't in court
http://archive.azcentral.com/12news/articles/20130520jodi-arias-darryl-brewer-interview.html

I can't help but wonder if, secretly, perhaps Brewer is afraid to say anything bad about Jodi. She knows where he lives......
Justice, Martinez played the sex tape for the family of Travis Alexander before it was played in court and they verified it was Alexander's voice on the tape. None of his friends disputed that was Alexander's voice on the tape. They all know his voice. Frankly, I think the tape humanized Alexander. He sounded boyish, naïve, sweet and romantic. He didn't sound like a controlling, mean abuser. He sounded like a little boy in a candy store being manipulated by a more experienced sexual woman who taught him "freaky" sex as she referred to it. I didn't see the penis picture but I don't believe Alexander would send her a picture of his penis. He would want to keep that private.

I think Daryl Brewer is in denial. He doesn't want to admit that he let a cold blooded killer into his bed and his son's life.

Observer, you make a lot of sense. I just figure none of his friends heard that tape until it was presented by her, in her testimony. I just don't believe even 1/100 of what comes out of her mouth. I know the 'penis' photos are out there in cyber space, but I don't know where to find it now. SHE claimed she was eating out with some 'friends' and Travis was texting her, and suddenly sent her that photo, which "embarrassed" her. But, if anyone finds it and compares the nail beds...that WAS Brewer's nail beds in that photo. It was NOT Travis' hand.
On the Trial Addicts Facebook page Justice told us about, I also found the plea bargain motion which makes it clear from the beginning that Arias was planning on putting the victim on trial and exposing him as a sexual deviant and a tawdry playboy thinking his Mormon family would take the plea to save their brother’s reputation.

Wrong. The Alexander family and Martinez refused to give in to her blackmail and forced her to take it to trial.

According to the motion, on Oct. 26, 2010, Jodi Arias stated she would plead to second degree murder if the state agreed to the sentencing guidelines for someone who does not have a criminal record. Nurmi wrote the motion but it smacked of Arias arrogant know it all attitude.

The motion didn’t list the sentencing guideline but I believe it is eight years for someone with no criminal record. By then she had already been in prison for two years. So she was basically wanting to spend six more years in prison and then get out of prison and obsess and stalk and kill another guy who wouldn’t marry her.

I find it interesting that in the motion, Jodi Arias says it would require “the feat of mental gymnastics” to believe that Arias would be found guilty of felony or first degree premeditation because of the demeaning, degrading and abusive behavior of Travis Alexander.

The motion lists all the evidence Arias has against Alexander: the text messages, the sex tape, the emails and says a plea would save the Mormon community and family embarrassment of a trial.

Because of the “chaotic relationship," the motion states the most she would get is manslaughter.

It also says Jodi Arias does not believe she will get the death penalty so she is not going to plead guilty to first degree murder.

I wonder why she didn’t just agree to plead to manslaughter because that’s what she thought she would be convicted of if she didn’t walk on self defense.

She was wrong because the jury found her guilty of first degree murder (8-4 felony and 12-0 premeditation.)

I hope she is wrong and she gets the death penalty also.

Here's some more interesting things to see and listen to, while we wait for trail to begin tomorrow morning. Things I wish could come into this trial, but things this jury may never know…until after their duty is done and she is sentenced. Then, they may just see what a self-centered liar she is and has been all these years. I realize the state could not possibly admit everything and everyone that knew Travis and even who knew Jodi before she ambushed him and brutally killed him. But it’s a shame these people and their testimony in the links below could not have been admitted into evidence. (They had enough anyway, to get a GUILTY verdict of Murder One with the factor of ‘extreme cruelty’, and for that I am glad.)

Look at these 2 links to see what Travis’ friends were saying that he was telling them about Arias. Meanwhile, SHE said they were having all that ‘secret sex’. I am not convinced that he ‘kept’ her as a ‘sex toy’. Perhaps now and then, occasionally. I rather believe what he was telling his friends was the real way things were with her. Anyway, this is what he was telling his close friends:
