Duluth, reporters for newspapers and TV stations are ethically obligated to be objective and do not take sides on any subject, but report both sides. They will interview criminals, victims and their families and defense attorneys and prosecutors. They don't care what side they are on. As long as it is news, they will report it.

Bloggers like Jenn Wood, Christine of the Examiner, Cathy from Court Chatter and others do not have that obligation so they are on the side of the victim, Travis Alexander.

Troy Hayden is a reporter for Fox 10 TV station. Hayden isn't pro or anti Arias. He has said she is a convicted murderer and outed her for trying to manipulate him and on the other hand, he quotes what she tells him. He covered what happened in the trial and he airs whatever is news whether it makes Arias look good or bad. He is the one who interviewed Arias right after her guilty verdict. He also interviewed Cassandra Cox, Arias cell mate who was court ordered to a mental hospital after she was declared incompetent to stand trial and broadcast her claims that Arias told her she had supporters who would give Martinez a Maffia bow tie - slit his throat - if she got the death penalty. Hayden reported that three independent sources told him Arias was the secret witness long before that was revealed to the public by the Court of Appeals in making their ruling.

Michael Kiefer, a reporter for the Phoenix newspaper, claims he is objective but I have noticed he has slanted most of the trial coverage to make the defense look like their allegations against Alexander and Martinez and Flores were true. Kiefer also published confidential information Maria de la Rosa fed him. Kiefer's articles are re-printed on the Jodi Arias is Innocent Site. He has written numerous stories accusing the State Attorney Bill Montgomery and Juan Martinez with prosecutorial misconduct because defense attorneys use this tactic in all of their defenses and none of them have proven to be valid. Kiefer would quote Nurmi's outrageous lies about the prosecutor and cops deleting porn on the computer long after all the other reporters realized it was lies and stopped writing about it. Kiefer proudly displays a picture of him with Arias on his Facebook page which speaks volumes to me.

I would like to clarify my last post. I mistakenly said that Hayden would not capitalize on the Arias issue. Of course, with all his exclusive material, letters, etc. about and from Arias, he will write a book or an article in the future.

Reporters may have an ethical code that they should follow when reporting stories. They should not take sides. That would be in a perfect world.
HLN was pro Arias throughout their entire coverage of this case.
CNN is pro government in their reporting and aids in instilling fear in the public. I stopped watching CNN over 7 years ago because of this biased reporting.

TV Reporters (with the exception of a few) do their job for a number of reasons....
1. To get their names out there and advance their careers - this is admirable as long as it is fair reporting
2. To boost ratings and follow the mandates of the very stations/networks they work for - if they do not, they will not last long

The news sensationalizes every story they report. Often it incites anger and fear in the public. For good measure however, they throw in compassionate and nice community stories.

I do not trust all that I hear on the news and from reporters. Often they, and their stations/networks, have agendas of their own. I also do not want to live with hate and fear and so much of that is found in the news of today.

Anyone who has been connected in any way to the Arias case will try to capitalize on what they believe they know.

Arias will never stop her evil ways. We would be naïve to believe so.
But in my opinion, as long as we react to her antics, her postings, her supporters postings etc., it will all continue.
The Alexander family will have to decide if they want to read and hear each and every thing that Arias continues to do. Of course they must deal with a civil suit and wrongful death suit but the garbage being posted on sites they do not need to deal with.

It is time for Arias (and even her supporters) to get her (their) just due - absolutely shunned by the public.

When this is done as she moves to her new permanent home in Perryville, her self-proclaimed importance will die.
Instead, she will have to concentrate on trying to fit in with prison life and the criminals that she will be living with - criminals who are like her and will have no tolerance for her mannerisms.

She will be forgotten and I must say, she is well on her way to being so by me.

I am glad that the sheriff has banned video chats from those who see Arias as a glamorous celebrity, maybe even a heroine, and not a convicted murderer.

It is frightening that 15 year old girls wanted to chat with a woman who stabbed her ex boyfriend 29 times, slit his throat and shot him in the head. This means they may see what she did was the right thing to do and recreate her crime when they get spurned by a boyfriend.

I think that Arias was even allowed to video chat with anyone from all over the world is ridiculous. Some people will video chat with her like they go to the zoo to see a cobra snake. She is dangerous so they want to stare at her through the screen.

Video chats should be for family and friends only. Not every Tom, Dick and Harry who wants to watch a freak show.

It is disgusting.

Not realizing theirs no actual competition because theirs a limited audience, and because their just a industry of sorts! Regular news has merged into tabloid news! Inquirer was tabloid and now gives us better details!

So ID's arnt required' just pick a name, and all the suspected Jodi court communications are confirmed because Jodi was getting internet, phones and messages communications!

This shows how much of a lack of Control Shariff Joe has over inmates, this is not the first time He has talked about restricting / controlling Jodi, and she still has the most part of 30 days before transfer to prison, theirs a lack of guards and overcrowding equating inhumane treatment that results in deaths from overheating (mold) and lack of medicine, its worst than 'third world' imprisonment, both where Jodi is and where Jodi is going!

I just read the court minutes regarding the controversy between the 11 jurors voting for death and the hold out juror and apparently that's what the judge, Martinez and defense attorneys were discussing when the media and public were locked out of the courtroom the day before the hung jury. The 11 jurors reported that the holdout juror was talking about the movie The Secret and Laws of Attraction and the Lifetime movie about Jodi Arias. The judge looked up her questionnaire and she had mentioned that she had watched the Lifetime Movie and read the book and watched the movie, The Secret. So the judge said she was not in violation of that.

Nurmi tried to get a mistrial based on the fact that the juror said she was being intimidated to vote for the death penalty and that was denied. She claimed she was discussing her point of view but they were not listening.

Martinez had found out that Juror No. 17 had accessed her Facebook page during the trial and that had showed live feeds of the Jodi Arias trial but Wilmott said several other jurors had also accessed their Facebook page.

The judge also researched the law that stated a death sentence could be overturned if a holdout juror was removed so the judge gave an impasse instruction for the jurors to discuss their differences with each other without compromising their personal beliefs.

Here's what I would like to know: is Arias come after by the deputies or whatever they are called to take her calls in some part of the jail or does she have a personal phone in her cell? I think it is time that Arpaio actually stops this. What you posted, Nern, was that Arpaio MAY ban the communications from non-legal visitors. It sounds like someone like Arias who must be worshipped and adored by total idiots just has a party all day long in jail. It is absurd and bizarre and just another aspect of our JUSTICE system. How disgusting.
There is really something wrong with the jails if this is the case and something even more wrong with the rules that say a convicted criminal can have all these freedoms. I mean it. It is not right.
I wish Arpaio would keep her sorry ass in isolation until she is sentenced. I am assuming he is going by the law by allowing her these freedoms, but still there is something disgusting and sickening about all of this. I hope the prison isn't as free for her. But probably it will be. She is a terrific manipulator. She will party all day long on the phones probably.

Duluth, did you see my post above concerning the court minutes regarding Juror No. 17.

I was appalled when I read that Juror No. 17 disclosed in voire doire that she read The Secret and Law of Attractions and saw the Lifetime movie, was a victim of domestic abuse and that she was married to two convicted felons and they still kept her on the jury. That would be a red flag to me because she sounds like Jodi Arias's twin sister from another mother. Of course, she would side with Arias. I wonder if Martinez tried to get her thrown off and the judge wouldn't allow it.

Observer - you beat me to it! I came on here to post the same link that you did.

No where does it say that Juror #17 was not participating in deliberations but rather she was "ineffective" during deliberations. They also stated that it did improve after the impasse situation.
This is a clear example of how things get twisted when presented through the media.

JSS researched the law very well and given the responses from jurors interviewed, including #17, she found no grounds for the dismissal of this juror OR a mistrial as asked for by Nurmi.

Now, one could say that #17 was lying in her responses to the "Secret", the "Laws of Attraction" and the movie. I am sure a lot of people will believe she was lying.

Again, no where in the minutes is there any indication that she was not being believed. She stated her position and no one challenged it.
More than one juror was accessing their Facebook pages as well.

Because she was the lone holdout for a DP verdict that everyone wanted (well....not Arias) then she must have been a plant or a stealth juror and a liar.
She was entitled to her opinion (whether it be for or against the DP in this case) just as all of the jurors were.

Do not get me wrong. I wanted the DP for Arias because the Alexander family wanted it AND Arias qualified for it under the law of Arizona. Was I disappointed? Yes.
But until all facts, like these minutes, are made known, I do not agree with subjecting the holdout juror to damning comments just because I didn't get what I wanted. Death threats are shameful.

I posted way back Jodi is in a 2 room cell with 2 lockable doors, if her cell door is open she has access to a telephone mounted on the wall that guards use to listen to her conversations, Jodi once got caught using that phone without anyone knowing, she will be a cult hero in prison, the DP was the only option, and that would require a SuperMax that Arizona doesn't have, money talks in confinement and Jodi will make a career out of Charming those who will listen, if Jodi lives to get into population, their will be a rude awakening alike Manson (cult) but Charms like Bundy, Jodi dismissed her family because she's creating a new one!
